CONGRESS AND ADMINISTRATION ANNOUNCE LABOR, ENVIRONMENT FTA DEAL

On May 10, 2007, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Ways and Means Committee Chairman Charles Rangel (D-NY) announced at a press conference that they had reached a conceptual agreement with the Bush Administration on a range of changes for all pending free trade agreements (FTAs).  The agreement clears the path for congressional consideration of the FTAs with Peru and Panama, once the detailed language of the agreement has been worked out, according to Pelosi.
